Kampong Chai Chee CC X CS Bursary Award Ceremony

CareerSocius was at Kampong Chai Chee CC to conduct a Resume and Interview Workshop for Kampong Chai Chee’s Bursary Award Ceremony for less-privileged youth.

Our team have been conducting career workshops for over two years now, and we’ve come full circle back to where we first started back in 2017 - in the heart of Singapore neighbourhoods.

The KCC Bursary Award Ceremony was split into 2 segments - attended by the ITE & Polytechnic students in the first, and University students in the second. We observed that University students seemed a lot more enthusiastic to learn about career skills, perhaps simply because they see it on the horizon. The team believe that it is never too early to start dreaming up and planning for your career as good things take time to foster and mature. A takeaway for us is how can we create a fun learning environment for the younger students, to encourage them that anything is possible if only they take the first step?

As we conducted more workshops, we have and will continue to tweak our teaching styles to suit our audience, in order to maximize their takeaways.

"We started CareerSocius to help people who may not have had access to career resources and help while growing up. It was a good way for us to give back using the knowledge we’ve gained in University and the corporate world. Through our workshops, we hope to inspire Singaporean youth to dream a little bigger, push a little harder, and feel supported in their career aspirations no matter what they may be. No matter your family background or current circumstances, with proper guidance and a conviction to succeed, we believe that everyone can achieve their goals."

Kaining Lim, Head of Social Impact

This year, social impact remains a key focus of CareerSocius’ 2020 plans. We will be holding more career workshops with our partners, intensifying our impact with one-on-one sessions for youth who wish to dive deep, and potentially expand our reach beyond underprivileged youth in Singapore. Ultimately, our goal is to equalize job opportunities and help people find meaning in their careers. We believe it is one of the cruxes to a fulfilling life.
